Turning rigid, she pauses as if stunned by a wound that renders her bones to ice. Then quietly, hesitantly, she leans forward so that her breath may latch onto his skin when she speaks in a whisper under frigid air. "You…you care about me?"
He responds promptly, a huff to describe just a hint of irritation frowning upon his visage. "Of course I do. What do you take me for? You act as if we’re complete strangers." Again, he sighs, picking himself up from the snowy floor. "Now hurry up and let’s go home. You’re sure a stupid one for thinking I wouldn’t give a damn about a person I’ve known for almost all of my life."
